Leadership development for UK organisations

Train your managers to lead like coaches

Most managers were promoted because they were great at the job. Very few were ever taught how to lead people. We change that — with practical, AC-accredited programmes that teach managers to ask better questions, listen harder, and give feedback that actually lands.

What is coaching-led leadership?

A leadership style, not a job change.

We're not training your managers to become professional coaches. We're teaching them a set of skills — the ones most managers were never given — that change how they run 1:1s, give feedback, and develop their people day to day.

Before

Manager tells. Team waits for answers, asks permission, escalates problems upwards, and only grows as fast as the manager has time to teach.

After

Manager asks. Team thinks for itself, takes ownership of problems, develops faster, and the manager gets their calendar back.

What changes for your organisation

The reason organisations invest in coaching skills is because they compound. One trained manager lifts a team. A trained leadership population lifts the whole culture.

Teams that own their work

Your managers stop being the bottleneck. People bring solutions, not just problems.

Faster people development

Growth happens inside the normal week, not in separate training events. Succession gets easier.

Feedback that sticks

Managers give feedback more often, more directly, and with less fallout. Hard conversations get easier.

Higher retention & engagement

People stay where they feel developed. Coaching-led managers are consistently the ones teams don't want to leave.

Resilience under pressure

Teams handle change, ambiguity and setbacks with less manager intervention.

A pipeline of real leaders

You stop promoting people who can do the job and start promoting people who can grow others.

About us

Built on 25 years of coach training.

We're the corporate leadership development arm of The Coaching Academy — the UK's largest professional coach training organisation, founded in 1999.

Our parent organisation trains individuals to become qualified, practising coaches. We do something different: we train existing managers and leaders to use coaching skills within their leadership role. Same 25-year pedigree, same AC-accredited methodology, different outcome.

That heritage matters. Every trainer who delivers our programmes is a working coach with thousands of live coaching hours behind them. Your managers aren't being taught theory by consultants — they're being taught by people who coach for a living.

The Coaching Academy

Our trainers

Working coaches. Not career consultants.

Hand-selected from our pool of senior UK coaches — ICF and AC credentialed, with extensive 1:1 and corporate coaching practices. They bring live examples into the room, not slide decks.

Common questions

Questions we get asked a lot.

Can't see yours? Drop us a line — we'll get back to you within one working day.

What is coaching-led leadership?

A leadership style where managers guide their teams through questions, active listening and structured feedback rather than purely through instruction. Leaders keep their authority — they just stop being the person who has to have all the answers.

Are you training our managers to become coaches?

No. We train them to use coaching skills within their existing leadership role. If you want someone to qualify as a practising coach, that's what our parent organisation The Coaching Academy does for individuals.

Who typically attends?

Middle and senior managers, emerging leaders, people leads, and intact leadership teams. Our clients range from 6-person leadership groups to 600+ managers rolled out over 18 months.

In-person or online?

Both. The Foundation and Advanced programmes run either way; High Performance Teams is in-person only (the DISC team dynamics work needs the room). We travel across the UK and deliver online globally.

How do we know it works?

We build measurement into every engagement — pre- and post-programme confidence scoring, manager behaviour change, and wherever possible engagement/retention data from your HRIS. See case studies →

How much does it cost?

Everything is priced per engagement because we tailor every programme. As a guide, Foundation programmes typically start from £[METRIC] per group of 12, and Advanced programmes are quoted on cohort size and duration. Book a call and we'll give you an indicative range in the first 15 minutes.

Let's talk

Book a 15-minute discovery call.

Tell us the challenge you're trying to solve and we'll tell you honestly whether coaching-led leadership is the right answer — and if so, which programme fits. No pitch deck, no pressure.

What happens next: We respond within one working day. The first call is 15 minutes. If it's a fit we'll scope and price a programme together over 2–3 further conversations.
