Trinny London | Case Study

Client

Trinny London is a dynamic and innovative beauty brand founded by Trinny Woodall in 2017. Renowned for its personalised approach to makeup, the brand has revolutionised the beauty industry, emphasising customisation, convenience, and cutting-edge technology. It allows customers to create bespoke beauty routines that suit their personal style and lifestyle.

Lisa Butler, Retail Director has approached The Coaching Academy to discuss providing DISC High-Performance team building workshops.

Business Need

Trinny London has a vision for major growth.  The Retail Division is led by Lisa Butler, who has experience in using DISC to build team cohesion and high performance.   The leadership team within the retail division is fairly new.   There is a need to explore how to create an interdependent, high-performance culture for the Senior Members of the Retail team.   It was also a requirement that the team come together to have fun and also learn how to adapt their approach to leading, inspiring, and motivating.

Solution

DISC is a model of human behaviour that positively impacts team dynamics. It helps people better understand their strengths and how their behaviour preferences impact others. We understand that if someone communicates with you according to your behavioural preferences, you are more likely to respond positively and be receptive.

We proposed to deliver a bespoke DISC Team Development/High-Performance Teams session for senior leaders within the retail team.  The outcome was to develop effective communication, empowerment, and growth among the team alongside personal growth to reach the full potential and growth.

  • Pre-training design meeting between our Head of Training, Sharon Lawton and Lisa Butler, Retail Director at Trinny London. This was vital to understand the client’s vision and understand the overall outcomes for success to ensure the training is directly relevant to the team’s needs and expectations.
  • In-Person Training Workshop: A fully tailored, interactive workshop was conducted on-site for the senior leaders of the retail team. We aimed to ensure all participants could foster a positive work environment by appreciating and valuing individual differences and enhancing team performance and overall productivity.   The session was linked directly to what being a high-performance team meant, with plenty of discussion time and action planning.
  • The Psychology of Motivation and Behaviour: DISC is the universal language of behaviour and part of the training included the able/motivated matrix which supports the identification of skills gaps and develop top performers. By embedding this model within the company, we covered the psychology of motivation and behaviour of teams and individuals.
  • Lencioni’s 5 Dysfunctions of a Team:  exploring Lencioni’s model for building efficient and effective teams and discussing the five common issues that prevent teams from reaching their full potential
  • We provided a multi-layered learning experience, including workbooks, handouts, and interactive team activities specifically designed for this company.
  • A Group Dynamics Report for the Trinny London retail team was also supplied.
  • Post-training review was included within the package.

“Sharon, our trainer, has been amazing.  Welcoming, thorough and very insightful. The training was exactly what I was looking for to support my outcomes for this team.   The session allowed us to all reflect on our communication styles, it encouraged a growth mindset and included lots of opportunities for us to explore how we can adapt to each other and work as a team.

The training space Sharon created allowed the whole team to feel valued and safe enough to share vulnerabilities.

Thank you, Sharon, for delivering exactly what we as a team needed to bring us together and enhance our skillset as a management team.”

- Lisa Butler, Retail Director
